FOUNDER / CEO - KAI SUGIHARA VISITS JAXA TANEGASHIMA SPACE CENTER WITH MOTOKO MIZUNO AND KEN IKEDA
Conducting a Special Tour into the Core of Japan’s Largest Space Infrastructure
Kai Sugihara, together with adviser Motoko Mizuno and artist/producer Ken Ikeda, made a special visit to the JAXA Tanegashima Space Center, gaining direct exposure to the core of Japan’s space infrastructure.
During the visit, they received technical briefings on normally non-public areas, including rocket engine internal systems, combustion lines, and propulsion mechanisms. They also entered the Launch Control Center, the operational hub for launch execution, and were given detailed explanations of real-world launch flows and safety protocols.
Drawing on her background across space policy and legal frameworks, Motoko Mizuno shared perspectives that reaffirmed the strengths of Japan’s launch site infrastructure and rocket technologies—bridging institutional operations and international coordination.
Ken Ikeda was deeply inspired by the “aesthetics of structure” and the “form born from function” embodied in the launch facilities and combustion test environments, speaking to new creative possibilities at the intersection of space development and art.
Bedrock Space will continue accelerating efforts to expand space development beyond technology—into industry, governance, and culture—advancing space as both a living domain and a cultural domain for humanity.
